The way I see it is that we are all Americans and we need to look after each other. I am liberal but I have no problem with the fact that poor conservatives, mainly in the south and midwest, would get health care partially paid by my taxes. Unfortunately, the right does not see it this way...they don't want their money being spent on poor minorities. It is an embarrassment to live in the wealthiest nation in history and have people dying on the streets due to lack of care and people losing their homes due to medical costs bankrupting them. Sick.

It doesn't matter whether or not they geniunely care. As much as Americans love their 'self-made' mythology, ALL individual wealth is a product of its society and does not exist (EVER) without entitlement and protection extended by society. As such, society dictates the terms of all wealth and has the legal right to collect taxes as well as determining the use thereof. Nobody has to care about anybody else, they just have to comply with the terms of wealth their society provides them. Caring about each other is an incidental bonus that will eventually make us a healthier more constructive society but it is not and should not be necessary in order for a society to name its terms of wealth.

Why should wealth be evenly distributed to all legal residents on any society? How does that teach/encourage people to be successful in life?

Is it impossible for people to decide they are responsible for themselves and they are not entitled to what I have worked so hard to get. Spreading wealth means you forcibly take money away from someone who earned it and giving it to someone who did not bother to do so. How can that be right? Why should I work hard and be successful and then have it given to someone else? Why would the underachievers work hard to meet their needs if the govt is going to do it for them?

Your assumptions are incorrect and are rooted in a socialistic principle which denies personal responsibility for self. Additionally you presuppose that people do not have concern for their fellow man which is also not true. The arguments relating to health care are much more complex than your simplistic entitlement posting. You do not have a right to derive your sustenance or well being from the public purse and my stating this simple fact does not mean that I do not have concern for your well being. Instead it means that I am not responsible for it! You are!Second, is it possible to separate facts from emotions, policies from slogans? How can there be any political progress if you so casually assume that my real-world opposition to real-world issues is simply the result of some character defect on my part? So, give some reasons why anyone should care about other people that don't even care about themselves enough to better their own situations?Other people are cared for all of the time. Someone has convinced you that Governmnet health care is the answer...but like all other governmnet programs it will just make things worse. We care about people which is why we are saying NO to Government run healthcare. I see you as the one that doesn't care because its easier to accept the governmnet propoganda than do the work and research the problem. The government doesn't usually ask for donations. They usually rip the money out of people's paychecks and non-compliance is usually dealt with by seizing property and throwing people in jail. I care so much for you, that I don't want the government to impose its will on you.
