The natural instinct in man is to think about himself, his welfare. But he is not totally immune towards others. Like he thinks for his family and is active in providing them with whatever their needs may be. Thus there is a capacity to think about others. The difference is made by the narrowness or the broadness of the vision. I think modern society is so rushed up, survival has become so crucial, the pace of life has become so fast that people fail to broaden their vision. May be we need to slow down. Competition is good to some extent but not when it makes us insenstitive towards others. The fact that still there are some people who are considerate towards other, though in a minority, gives me the confidence that if we try earnestly we might effect a change.

The way I see it is that we are all Americans and we need to look after each other. I am liberal but I have no problem with the fact that poor conservatives, mainly in the south and midwest, would get health care partially paid by my taxes. Unfortunately, the right does not see it this way...they don't want their money being spent on poor minorities. It is an embarrassment to live in the wealthiest nation in history and have people dying on the streets due to lack of care and people losing their homes due to medical costs bankrupting them. Sick.

It doesn't matter whether or not they geniunely care. As much as Americans love their 'self-made' mythology, ALL individual wealth is a product of its society and does not exist (EVER) without entitlement and protection extended by society. As such, society dictates the terms of all wealth and has the legal right to collect taxes as well as determining the use thereof. Nobody has to care about anybody else, they just have to comply with the terms of wealth their society provides them. Caring about each other is an incidental bonus that will eventually make us a healthier more constructive society but it is not and should not be necessary in order for a society to name its terms of wealth.

Why should wealth be evenly distributed to all legal residents on any society? How does that teach/encourage people to be successful in life?

Spreading wealth means you forcibly take money away from someone who earned it and giving it to someone who did not bother to do so. How can that be right? Why should I work hard and be successful and then have it given to someone else? Why would the underachievers work hard to meet their needs if the govt is going to do it for them?

Unfortunately, with Bush pushing for nongovernmental groups to do more and more that government used to do, this is a result. Very little oversight, supervision by government. ACORN has done much good, but also has had well-publicized problems. ACORN has expanded beyond its ability to control the quality and training of its staff. The videotaping came across many staffers giving good advice, but that hasn't been spread across the internet, like the really outrageous ones. There have been many "Christian" organizations that have been found guilty of fraud and malfeasance, in very serious cases involving children and families. And some of these "Christian" organizations refuse to neutrally aid individuals and give them their full range of options.

It is deplorable, but some how not surprising. I am glad that the Census Bureau and Congress are severing ties with ACORN. Now only if rest of the government will do the same it will be a step in the right direction.

IP addresses and HOSTS files?

Somehow I have gotten the antivirus 2010 malware on my computer and I researched how to rid myself of it. Simply removing it from add/remove programs didn't work so I am having to list their affiliated sites on my HOSTS file in my computer.. The internet has given me a list of sites to block and so on so forth.. My question is with the sites they have given me to block it doesn't give me the IP addresses with the site. How do I know was IP address to list with each site? Will It work just listing the site without the IP address???

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware should rid the computer of the problem. You need to get rid of the malware, not just mask the effects.

The IP address is the number behind the name. If you put the name (www.------.com) it will just translate it into the IP. It should work.

just ping the sites. (from the command line type ping and then the site's url). It'll give you the IP.

in your hosts file just list the website address with the IP 127.0.0.1 which will stop traffic getting to those sites
